Advanced Directives, Power of Attorney and Living Wills... Oh My!

Always wanted to know your loved ones end of life choices, but were afraid to ask? We can help! Join Becky Eggert, Executive Director of Mercy Hospice and Attorney James Contini II on how to start the conversation with your loved ones today regarding their wishes for their Power of Attorney, DNR, and Living Will. Blank copies of these Advanced Directives will be made available to all guests. Two sessions are available at 3pm and 6pm. Please RSVP by April 12th to 330-477-7664.

An Artist Among Us

A numbers of artistic pieces in watercolor will be on display from April 26 to April 28th, in the Independant Living Atrium. Let's Go to the Races for A Cause!

Canton Regency will host a Ladies Luncheon & Mint Juleps, Fashion Show and Hat Auction/ Contest and Raffle Baskets to benefit the Arthritis Association. Tickets for the event are $10 individual or $75 for a table of 8. Hat Sponsorship is also available ($50 entry fee). The Hat donations will be auctioned off during the event. Professional Education

Canton Regency is proud to sponsor our continuing education series to our local health care professionals in Stark County. This education was approved for Nurses, Social Workers and Licensed Nursing Home Administrators. The focus this moth was the growing diversity of our aging population in the United States and our roles as caregivers. There was much sharing and discussion related back to the experiences each participant has had as well as best practices to take back to our professional caregiving teams.

FREE VA Aid and Attendance Benefit Changes Seminar

Confused about the latest changes to the VA Aid and Attendance benefit? WE CAN HELP. Canton Regency will be hosting a FREE Seminar on Tuesday, February 19th at 3 pm and 6 pm to help all Veterans and their families understand the changes that were made to the Benefit in October, 2018. The presentation will be given by the Stark County Veterans Service Commission, who will be on hand to give the facts on both the recent changes and also the benefits that Veterans are entitled to. Corn Hole Tournament to Benefit Meals on Wheels

We're looking for a few sweethearts to participate in our 1st Annual "Cornhole Tournament" to benefit Meals on Wheels of Stark and Wayne Counties. The event will take place on Saturday, February 16th from 11 am - 2 pm at the main entrance to Canton Regency. We are asking the public to support this event by becoming a two-team tournament participant by calling Ruby Mathys, (330)495-0339 to register, by donating a gift basket or simply coming to the event to purchase tickets for the basket auction and 50/50 raffle. 100% of all proceeds go to Meals on Wheels and will be earmarked to subsidize meal costs for seniors in our neighborhood in Stark County. A FREE continental breakfast will be held and DJ Billy will be providing live entertainment throughout the event. We thank you in advance for your support of this very worthy entity.

Canton Regency Is Now Host Site for AARP Senior Driving Course

Canton Regency has newly become a host site for the AARP Senior Safe Driving Program, effective now through November, 2019. The four hour course will be held on their campus on the second Wednesday of every month - January through November, 2019 from 8:30 am – 1:00 pm and will include a coffee and continental breakfast and a boxed lunch for all attendees. The cost is $15.00 for AARP members and $20.00 for non-members. Participants in the course will receive a certificate of completion that will entitle them to a discount on their automobile insurance from their individual carrier. Seating is limited, so to sign up for this program call Wanda at (330)477-7664 to make a reservation.

When looking for something to do, you can look no further than the Bistro many evenings. Euchre is the game of choice several nights of the week, a spirited game that combines luck, skill and an enjoyable evening of friends is what this night is about.

Safety Training

Canton Regency welcomed Ralph, Safety Inspector with Jackson Township Fire Department, to provide fire safety education to our residents. During this informative meeting Ralph reviewed practices related to fire prevention, what to do in case of a fire, including how to evacuate in case of a fire. Canton Regency is proud to partner with our local safety officials to provide a safe environment to our residents.

VA Aid & Attendance

Thank You to the Stark County Veteran Services Commission for helping The Canton Regency provide education to our Armed Services Veterans about the benefits they may qualify to receive. Meals on Wheels

Corn Hole Tournement benefiting Meals on Wheels

On February 16, 2019, Canton Regency partnered with Meals on Wheels of Stark and Wayne Counties, Canton Data Print and Slick Woody's Cornhole Company to raise money for the Meals on Wheels Program. Through the coordination of these amazing organizations, the event raised over $1700 to help provide meals to individuals in Stark and Wayne County. Twenty Eight teams competed in a Corn Hole tournament with sponsored custom made corn hold boards to win the bragging rights of "Corn Hole Champion!" In addition to the corn hole tournament, a 50/50 raffle and basket raffle rounded out the day making this first time event a success! This was the first annual tournament, the first of many.....
