SUPPORT GROUP

Grieving? Know someone who is? Surviving life events such as holidays and special days can be especially painful. Discover how to deal with emotions. Discover what to do about traditions. Helpful tips for surviving social events. How to find hope for the future. Help is here every week at the Atrium Resident and family support group. Sessions are FREE with our very own Volunteer of Social Services Renee. Share at will within a group of your peers for support in life's events. 1:1 support is available by request. Don't wait join us every Monday in the Hide-a-way room at 2:15pm.

SENIOR FRIENDSHIP

Residents meet monthly from Quilter's Club to present items that will be donated to the Assistance League of Sacramento. The Assistance League of Sacramento is a non-profit Charity Organization that helps the aging, children in need, the homeless and more in Sacramento. All hand crafted items directly benefit these groups thanks to the efforts of residents at the Atrium of Carmichael. Club members include crochet, knitting, sewing and other art forms. Residents state they receive the most joy from this group as they are helping others in their community. Members gain friendship through their special talent and fulfill the need to give. Please join us for Senior Friendship to share friendship of course!

Alzheimer's Association Fundraiser:The Longest Day Event!

On June 21, 2018, The Longest Day of the year and summer solstice, dozens of people from our community will come together to show their love for those affected by Alzheimer's disease. You can be one of them. Join us Thursday, June 21 for a fun-filled day of activities to raise money and awareness to fight Alzheimer's. For more details about the events for this day, visit our Community News page. You can support research, caregivers and those affected by Alzheimer's , by attending our Longest Day Event! Atrium of Carmichael will be holding a Bake Sale for this special day inside our building at the Pool Hall located just off the Fireside Room. Art Exhibit!

Resident artwork will be on display for your viewing pleasure Monday June 25 10:00am-3:00pm in the Recreation Room. You will see the creations of original visual arts through various art forms such as use of adult color, card creations, acrylic painting, ceramics, crochet, jewelry making, knitting, photography, sewing, quilting, watercolor, woodworking and more! The Activity Department encourage and support the cultural life of the community, and encourage all artists to fulfill their potential. Open Show Event. FREE admission. ANTIQUE BOTTLES SEMINAR

What technology or processes were used to manufacture the bottle? Where did the bottle come from? Where can I go for more information on historic bottles? Hundreds of thousands of uniquely different bottles produced in the United State and Canada between 18th Century and 1950's. Come learn about this incredible history and see the beautiful bottle collection with "Russel" as he demonstrates.

Glass Insulators Seminar

Glass insulators were first produced in the 1850's for use with the telegragh lines. As technology developed insulators were needed for telephone lines, electric power lines and other. In mid 1960's few people began collecting these antique glass insulators. Today there are over 3000 collectors. Meet one of them today "Russel" will be guiding us through the history as well as telling of his adventures in seeking these hard to find treasures. Come see the beautiful collection and learn so much more!

Atrium's Story Telling

Did you always want to share your story; or learn about public speaking? Story telling comes to the Atrium of Carmichael with leader Amy who is a member of two community Toastmaster's Speech Clubs. Amy is willing to share what she has learned to create a unique club naming it "Atrium's Story Telling". Participation can be rewarding as you share your own experiences in a positive and supportive atmosphere. This is a great opportunity to develop confidence as well as making new friends. May topics bring discussions about Spring time and Motherhood. Spring is upon us and with that comes climate change, mood changes and happiness! Motherhood brings lots of memories to us with different parenting styles and thoughts of the past remembering our own mothers and traditions. Come share your thoughts, culture and inspiration to others in this open forum.

Capital Senior Living CEO;Larry Cohen, Named Alzheimer's 2018 Brain Ball National Honoree

I have the privilege today of being able to share with you some exciting news about our friend and CEO, Larry Cohen. Larry has been named the National Honoree for the 2018 Alzheimer's Association Brain Ball for his support of the fight against Alzheimer's and dedication to creating an environment for seniors to thrive. The Brain Ball is the organization's annual fundraising event which, since inception in 2014, has raised more than $7.5 million to benefit the Alzheimer's Association. We are incredibly proud of Larry receiving this National recognition, as it represents a tremendous affirmation of the passion and dedication that he has displayed in helping seniors throughout his long and illustrious career. Creative Crafting Group!

Atrium resident crafters enjoy meeting weekly to work on their talents in the Recreation Room. Resident shown in photo creating Mother's Day cards to be given to all of our lovely moms on Mother's Day. Some of the crafting projects for May include: Painting Ceramic Gnomes and flower pots for our Garden, Painting wine bottles in pretty flowers for upcoming event, Pinata Bags for Cinco De Mayo, Wine Tour Pins to be worn on our next outing, Our next project will include creating hand made envelopes for our card shop. The Crafting group especially enjoy doing purposeful crafts and meet each week for the entire day coming and going as they need often eating lunch together! Upcoming projects in June will include: Father's Day gift boxes Painting Canvas and more!
