Alzheimer’s Association Fundraiser: The Longest Day

On June 21, 2018, the longest day of the year and summer solstice, dozens of people from our community will come together to show their love for those affected by Alzheimer's disease. You can be one of them. Join us Thursday, June 21 at 6:30pm for a fun-filled evening of painting with a twist to raise money and awareness to fight Alzheimer’s.

Throughout May and June, we’ll be accepting donations on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Association to support research, caregivers and those affected by Alzheimer’s. To join the fight, donate online at the link below. We look forward to seeing you on June 21!

Pet Therapy

Do you love Dogs? Then you will love enjoying a morning full of sweet doggy kisses and snuggles during our pet therapy group! We typically have 2-3 dogs of different breeds join us each month for an hour of relaxation.

Ames Farmer's Market Trip

Do you like to pick out your own fresh fruits and vegetables? How about fresh baked sweets such as cookies and pies? Then the farmer's market is the place for you! We will be taking Resident's and guests to the Ames Farmer's market at 9:30am on Saturday June 23rd! If you would like to go please reserve a seat on our bus with our Activities Director Eden Hinrichs! We will meet in the main lobby to board the bus at approximately 9:15am.

Iowa Arboretum Visit

We will be visiting the Iowa Arboretum for an afternoon of nature and relaxation. We will be providing the transportation to and from the arboretum. You will have to choice to stay on the bus as it drives through the grounds or you may exit the bus to walk along the paths if you wish. If you would like to join the group please contact Eden Hinrichs to reserve a seat! Make sure to act fast, as seats fill quickly! Please be sure to arrive 30 minutes before departure at 1:00pm so everyone can get situated on the bus before we go!

Gardening with Girl Scouts

The Girl Scouts will be visiting The Waterford at Ames on May 20th to help plant flowers! Its that time of year to get our private courtyard up an running with the usual array of beautiful flowers. Please join us and the local girl scout troop for a beautiful afternoon of gardening!

New Director of Sales & Marketing!

Welcome, Logan Harrington Director of Sales & Marketing!

On April 12th, Logan Harrington started as our new Director of Sales & Marketing. Logan brings a vast variety of healthcare knowledge & leadership to our community. While specializing in Alzheimer’s & dementia care, hospice & palliative care, home care, long-term care, management, environmental services, customer service, and sales & marketing.

Logan grew up in Boone, Iowa where he still lives. Logan has a teacup morkie Oakley, cats Cassie & Mia, horses Lacie & Dixie. He also has a 22-month-old niece Adaline, and 4-month-old nephew Hudson. Logan enjoys spending time with family & friends, camping, riding horses, DIY projects, and shopping.

When you see Logan around the community, please don’t hesitate to say hi and introduce yourself! Welcome to the community Logan!

The Safety Committee is comprised of a group of employees who value the safety and well-being of their peers/residents and the continuous success of the organization. It's an effective way to improve safety behavior and performance in the workplace and to encourage workers to support the organization's safety program. Participation in the Safety Committee represents a commitment on your part in time and effort to:
• Be your organization’s eyes and ears
• Raise safety awareness
• Gain respect of co-workers and peers
• Analyze and/or solve problems
• Follow-up and follow-through consistently

On Valentines Day Resident Betty had a special visitor! Betty has been a life long Iowa State University fan and was excited to see Cy the Cardinal stop in!
