New Resident Mixer

The Waterford is proud to be a friendly, welcoming community. Living in a community, it's not always easy to meet everyone and remember their names. Several times a year, we host a New Resident Mixer and encourage not only our newest residents, but ALL residents to come down and enjoy refreshments & mingle. We were all new once and it makes such a difference to have that warm welcome. You never know who you might meet... Some of our residents have even bumped into old friends, not realizing they live here too! And of course, new friendships are always on the horizon with our sweet residents.

Our Talented Chef...

We still don't know how we got so lucky, nabbing such a talented chef for our community! In the photo, you can see our chef Aaron Brooks (left) on a local news segment, highlighting his dishes for annual local foodie event, Baconfest. This was before he came to us, back in 2016, but like a good wine or cheese, his cooking talents have only gotten better with time. He has a great range of skills and creativity that we benefit from and enjoy daily here at the Waterford. Come and taste the difference yourself!

A Very Special Candlelit Dinner

Our talented chef, Aaron Brooks, delights in coming up with gourmet menu items for our once-a-month Candlelight Dinners. This month, our special dinner fell within the same week as St. Patrick's Day, so Aaron decided to amp things up with an Irish flare! On his tray in the photo, he presents the starters: Potato Leek Soup with a fried leek garnish and home made Irish soda bread rolls, and a bright & flavorful Radish and Watercress Salad with Quinoa and a Ginger Vinaigrette. For the main entree choices: Rosemary Sausage Pie (with house-made sausage!), and Salt & Honey Braised Beef. The sides include Red Cabbage and Apples, and Boiled Red Potatoes with Roasted Garlic & Pearl Onions. For dessert, he prepared the light and deliciously simple Cranachan (or Almond Pudding), made with toasted almonds, oatmeal, honey and whipped cream layered into a pudding parfait. There was also a yummy Apple Upside Down Cake (not pictured). Is your mouth watering yet?

Join us and taste the quality here at the Waterford. Enjoy a meal on us! Lunch (or dinner) tours can be made by contacting Kari Wilson at 417-881-5088 or by emailing her at

Heart Pillow Craft & Sweethearts Discussion

On Valentine's Day, residents joined our Activities Director Sarah and made this cute little no-sew fleece pillow in the shape of a heart. During the craft, we all enjoyed some Valentine's Day treats and reminiscing with a fun discussion about Sweethearts from our past, or how we came to meet our current sweethearts and what life was like at that time. Good times with great residents! <3

King & Queen of the Swirl!

All hail King Richard and Queen Norma!
The residents have spoken and this sweet couple of ours are thought to be two of the sweetest, most caring and welcoming individuals here at the Waterford. Out Sweetheart Swirl event that took place on February 10th was a blast and we can't wait to see who will win the crown next year! :) :) :)
