"Dog Days" BINGO!
Date: 08/16/2019

"Dog Days" BINGO!

No doubt we'll look like the little dog at left come mid-August, so what better time to chill with a few BINGO games? We'll gather in the activity room Friday, August 16th, with a few treats and several fun prizes and play for a couple of hours prior to supper. We're using our imaginations between now and then to play up the "panting dog" theme. It should be a fun afternoon for our residents.

"Unfashionable Fashion Show"
Date: 06/25/2019

"Unfashionable Fashion Show"

Our 1st Annual “Unfashionable Fashion Show” was a resounding success! Nine “models” donned various “outfits” and hammed it up before a very receptive audience. From Boyd C.’s “pinstriped suit” to Betty Akers’ “headed for the fall” outfit, everyone got laughs and applause. We must thank Helen M. for the sleepless night that prompted her ideas for the show, Irene (Earline C.’s daughter) for adding her notes; Donna (Violet B.’s daughter) and Tammy (Phyllis B.’s daughter-in-law) for excellent video and photos; Barb (Helen M.’s daughter) for adding finishing touches to the outfits; and Maebelle R. for creating Susanne’s “sack dress” and “pillbox hat.” It’s safe to say our audience found the outfits to be “stunning.” Thank you, models, for being such great sports!

The "Unfashionable Fashion Show"

Coming up Friday, June 7th, at 2:00 in our activity room, Ironbridge presents our first "Unfashionable Fashion Show." Various residents will model "outfits" that can best be described as eclectic but that we promise (hope) will be entertaining. Invite a family member to join you for an hour of laughter, brought to us by Ironbridge resident Helen M.
(This event was originally scheduled May 10th but was postponed.)

We're in for a treat during suppertime on Thursday, October 17th, when one of Springfield Little Theatre's youth troupes performs for us. Thank you to Zoe Zolenky at SLT for coordinating the groups of singers and dancers, which run the gamut from 2nd graders up to high schoolers.

Come on, Fall!

Chilly temperatures are in the air, (hopefully) bringing gorgeous fall foliage! So we're revisiting Springfield Botanical Gardens on Thursday, October 17th, at 2:00. We'll take a busload of residents to savor the season on a private tram tour conducted by garden staff.

A Classy Reception for Two Classy Ladies

We welcomed Amanda Cooper, our new Executive Director, and Bri Dunn, new Sales & Marketing Director, to The Waterford with a reception September 19th. Residents, family members and friends filled the front lobby and activity room to greet the ladies. Thank you to Phoenix Home Care & Hospice and to our own Sales Excellence Manager, Kari Wilson, for planning and catering the event!

We took a full bus on our recent trip to Downstream Casino. Everyone had a blast, whether playing blackjack, slots or (as shown) "Wheel of Fortune." The Downstream staff were friendly and helpful, the lunch buffet was varied and delicious with attentive service, the restrooms were clean and well-stocked—in short, we had no complaints. Some of us even returned with more money in our pockets than we'd left home with. Blackjack? We'll be back!
