Winter Luau!

Just in time to stave off Winter's doldrums, The Waterford hosts its annual "Winter Luau" for our residents Friday, January 25th. Chef Aaron has a Polynesian lunch menu planned at 11:00 AM. Hawaiian attire is encouraged (coconut bra and grass skirt if you dare!), with sunglasses optional as we'll hope for an unseasonably warm day. Uke 66 returns with musical entertainment, and our tiki hut bar will be open. Residents don their most colorful Hawaiian shirts—we provide leis—and join the fun!

"The Longest Day" Activities

We raised funds for the Alzheimer's Association "The Longest Day" June 21st with "Margaritas on the Patio" and "Pie in the Face." What a combination of activities, right? We sipped cold drinks while watching staff members and residents smear brimming, whipped cream-filled pie pans on Jack's face. Jack, our maintenance director, is accustomed to a variety of work orders, but this one took the cake (or was it pie, Jack?). Thanks for being a great sport for a great cause!

We All Scream for Ice Cream

We're holding fundraisers throughout June to benefit the Alzheimer's Association. On several afternoons, we're selling ice cream bars during activities and in the residential wings. No matter what age, folks respond to a bell on an ice cream cart! It's a big hit for a worthy cause.

An Opportunity for Giving

We are passionate about the fight against Alzheimer’s disease and about having fun. That’s why this June we are hosting various activities on The Longest Day (6/21/19 starting at 1:00) to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Association.
The Longest Day is the day with the most light — the summer solstice. And it’s the day the Alzheimer’s Association calls on everyone to fight Alzheimer’s disease by raising funds and awareness for care, support and research.
By supporting the Waterford at Ironbridge as we host a “Games Marathon” on The Longest Day, we can stand up to the darkness of Alzheimer’s.
Can we count on you to help by making a donation? You may contribute by check, credit card or PayPal via our fundraising page (click below). If you prefer to donate face-to-face, please see Susan, our Resident Services Director at The Waterford. Thank you for giving to this worthy cause!

"Disney Dynamics"

Friday, May 3rd, was a "blast from the past" as we were serenaded by Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Little Richard and James Brown. Ed Sullivan announced his "big shew" and poodle skirts whirled during Disney Elementary's "Disney Dynamics" energetic performance in our activity room. Thank you, Trish Taff, for bringing your talented students to us! We'll see you in December.

Springfield Botanical Gardens

We're savoring Spring on Tuesday, May 28th, with a 1-hour private tram tour at the Botanical Gardens at Nathanael Greene/Close Memorial Park in south Springfield. Joined by our sister property, The Montclair, the tour takes us around the park's perimeter, circling Lake Drummond, the Mizumoto Japanese Stroll Garden, Butterfly House, hosta garden and varied flowerbeds and landscape lovingly cared for by park staff and Friends of the Garden. The blooming iris, peonies and roses should be spectacular following our recent rains.
