The Longest (What A) Day Celebration

We had the absolute pleasure to participate with all the communties of Capital Senior Living properties in The Longest Day. Spartanburg really came through with donations and volunteering to help make this year's event a complete success. We had everything from clothing to household decor, to furniture in the yard sale. We had a baked good sale. And this year we held our first online Homemade Cake Auction. The Activity Director made a deal with the staff that if we surpassed our fundraising goal then a cake to the face would be taken. Not only did we surpass our goal, but we went more than three times over! After all, who can say no to our beautiful residents... What a great time was had by all. But most importantly, the feeling we each received for knowing we played some small part in finding a cure for such a terrible disease.

Flowers Are The Smell To My Soul

With the help of Wren Hospice, we added a touch of color and flare to the Memory Care garden. We redone the flower beds, planted new flowers, and added new garden decorations. it is so pretty and calming now. I am interested to see if our memory care residents enjoy seeing and smelling the beauty as much as we did remodeling.

Creative Arts

Kindred Hospice was so nice to help us with this month's Creative Arts project. We made super easy yet super cute door hangers in honor of Independence Day. Very simple to do. Tear paint tape into two strips and place them with space in between the white on a canvas board. Then paint the white area of canvas with red paint. Next take a wooden star and paint it blue. Once the paint dries, pull of the paint tape to reveal white stripes and then glue/tape the blue star in the center of the canvas. We added initial stickers to make it more personalized. Lastly, attach a strip of ribbon across the back side of the canvas. Voila! A festive 4th of July door hanger.

D-Day Memorial Service

On June 6th, We had such a moving D-Day Service. A local Funeral Home donated a beautiful red, white and blue wreath in memory of all fallen heroes from this day. All the veterans shared stories close to their heart about this day and other memories. We sang songs and had Communion with Westminister Presbyterian. There was not a dry eye in the house.
