Documentary: Iris

Iris pairs the late documentarian Albert Maysles, then 87, with Iris Apfel, the quick-witted, flamboyantly dressed 93-year-old style maven who has had an outsized presence on the New York fashion scene for decades. More than a fashion film, the documentary is a story about creativity and how a soaring free spirit continues to inspire. Iris portrays a singular woman whose enthusiasm for fashion, art, and people are her sustenance. She reminds us that dressing-and indeed life-is nothing but a grand experiment.
"If you're lucky enough to do something you love, everything else follows."

Show & Share

Throughout the years, we tend to collect and surround ourselves with things that have followed us through good times and bad, across continents and back. We cherish objects that represent memories, bring us comfort, and remind us of the life we live and the things we love.

Come to learn more about your neighbors and/or bring an award, memento, souvenir, hobby, collections, photo, or whatever else you want to show and share. It's a great conversation starter and a fun way to build connections with others.

Coffee & treats are provided.

Stoughton Norwegian Dancers

The Stoughton Norwegian Dancers will be here right on time for Syttende Mai, the Norwegian Constitution Day!

In 1952, Stoughton held it’s first Syttende Mai celebration and has since become a tradition in the community. The school administrator at the time felt the schools should play an active part in supporting ethnic pride as Stoughton was primarily populated with second and third generation Norwegians. So, in the spring of 1953, Ms. Reek, a physical education teacher selected 6 junior girls and told them to find 6 boys for a folk-dance group that would perform during future Syttende Mai celebrations. The group was accompanied by a single accordion player. And so the dancers began.

With the support and assistance of talented community members, school personnel and parents, the Stoughton Norwegian Dancers have become Stoughton’s “Good Will Ambassadors”. They have performed for millions of people. They have toured extensively throughout the United States, Canada and Norway and have been in several national folk festivals.

The students who are members of the group are pleased to have the opportunity to bring to each of you a little of the traditions of Norway.

Middleton Jazz Concert

Middleton Jazz plays traditional jazz tunes, mostly in the "Dixieland" style, with an emphasis on improvised solos. With seven horns and a full rhythm section, they play everything from blues to big band arrangements.
