Community Life

The Waterford at Oakwood celebrates its residents with special activities, seminars and more throughout the year that bring our community together. Offsite outings to nearby Oakwood attractions are especially popular events. Bible studies, wellness lectures, support groups and seminars are among other highlights within our community. The Importance of Dental Hygiene

Cassey Canady from Athens Technical Dental School will be presenting a dental hygiene program for our residents at The Waterford at Oakwood on Friday, November 1, 2019 at 10am. Cassey will discuss how important this is to our seniors, with or without dentures. Door prizes will be won and everyone will get a bag of dental goodies!

Assisted Living Week

Residents Gwen and Gene had a good time dancing with a team of dancers that volunteered to join us for National Assisted Living Week! Joining in the dance was Tracey, our Marketing Director. A good time was had by all!

September is Healthy Aging Month

September is an annual observance month designed to focus national attention on the positive aspects of growing older. So, join everyone in our Activity Room on Monday, September 16, 2019 at 1pm as we discuss and provide inspirational and practical ideas for senior adults. You will learn to improve your physical, mental and social well-being. Let's use September as the motivation to take stock of where you've been and what you can do to stay healthy! Then try it and put it into action! September is the month to change and we'll help get you started! We'll have some fun ways to get going as we discuss things YOU can do to improve yourself..........and learn to age healthy! Hope to see you there!

Heart Health

Please join us for a healthy heart discussion with Dr. Heather Westmoreland on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at 11am. Heather is a cardiologist and is the granddaughter of our resident, Annie Mae. We will be giving away heart pens, bookmarks and heart-shaped stress balls. Refreshments will be served.

Visit from Johnson High School Beta Club

The Waterford at Oakwood residents enjoyed a visit from Johnson High School Beta Club and the spring art that we created. Johnson High School's Beta Club does many service projects in the community and we feel very lucky that they come and do some of their projects with our residents. Thank you for making our spring a little brighter!
