Community Life

The Woodlands of Columbus celebrates its residents with special activities, seminars and more throughout the year that bring our community together.  Intergenerational programming and family nights encourage residents to invite their loved ones to participate within the community. Our residents join with local senior center attendees for activities and take part in a number of seasonal activities including Columbus Clippers’ games, Buckeye Lake boat tours, Lynd’s Fruit Farm apple picking, picnics in the park and Christmas lights driving tours. We also offer a wide range of musical entertainment onsite. Residents, family members and friends can keep track of all of our daily, weekly and monthly happenings, find out how to get involved in our activities, see photos from past events and get the latest news from our community by checking here.

FEBRUARY ACTIVITY FUN!

We have a ton of fun things planned for February. Please feel free to come join us for any activity!

Show support for the women in your life on National Wear Red Day, Feb. 1st, by wearing red, and join the thousands of women who are choosing to reduce their personal risk for heart disease. Heart disease is the number one silent killer among women. Help us raise awareness and support this effort.

We will televise the Super Bowl in the Activity Room on Sunday, Feb. 3, at 6:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. For residents choosing to watch from their apartments, it will be televised on CBS, Channel 10.

Come dip some delicious treats in the Chocolate Fountain on Feb. 6th with Sheila from Kindred Hospice. Everything is better covered in chocolate.

You are cordially invited to join us for our Valentine’s Day Celebration on Friday, February 15th, with special entertainment provided by none other than “Michael Rose.” Voting will take place during the first two weeks of February to nominate our King and Queen.

Make a bird feeder your feathered friends will love: Spread peanut butter onto a bagel, covering it completely, then roll it in birdseed. String a piece of yarn through the hole so you can hang it outside a window and watch birds enjoy the feast. Join us as we make our very own bagel bird feeders on Wed., Feb. 27th in the activity room.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

As we embark upon a new year, let’s take a moment to give thanks for the opportunities we are able to experience and share at The Woodlands. We all experience frustrations with our lives, but when we look at the problems throughout the world and the challenges facing our country, we truly are blessed to live and work in an environment that nurtures growth, independence, creativity and offers promise and security. We have experienced a great deal of change at The Woodlands during the past year, but the challenges dealt with during those changes prepare us to enter positively into a new year. The past is not a place of residence, but a catalyst for improvement.

Thank you to our residents, friends and families for another great year. Here’s to a successful and opportunistic New Year!

WINSTON .... Welcome to The Woodlands Family

Help us welcome to our family.... WINSTON! We had been considering adopting a pet for our Memory Care and all the sudden Winston showed up on our front porch - hungry and alone. We instantly fell in love and decided he chose us. We are getting him acclimated to our environment so be patient but you will be seeing him around! BE sure to be careful with him as he gains weight and strength but he is FULL on snuggles. Be sure to get you some Winston love.

Baking for the homeless

We are happy to announce our participation in a new community volunteer service with Mifflin Presbyterian Church. They will come on the 3rd Monday of every month to bake items with our residents and these items will then be donated to the homeless shelter. This is a great way to do some baking and be involved in a wonderful service in assisting our community who are in need. Thank you Mifflin Presbyterian Church for allowing us to be a part of this great service!
