Community Life

The Woodlands of Hamilton celebrates its residents with special activities, seminars and more throughout the year that bring our community together. Our residents have plenty to do on a weekly basis, including shopping trips and activity outings. We invite live entertainers to the community on a weekly basis as well. Our monthly family nights are a big hit. Residents, family members and friends can keep track of all of our daily, weekly and monthly happenings, find out how to get involved in our activities, see photos from past events and get the latest news from our community by checking here.

PODIATRIST (Thursday July 12th)

The Woodlands of Hamilton has a visit once a month from the Podiatrist on the first Thursday. The nurse's and staff keep track of when residents get there nails done and when they will need it done again.

The word podiatrist is composed of two ancient Greek parts: pod, meaning "foot," and iatrist, meaning "healer." Other kinds of doctors have a similar suffix: think psychiatrist — a doctor of the mind. The pod prefix and suffix is used to name a number of things. For example, a camera tripod has three "feet." Pea pods and iPods? Nothing to do with feet!

*May your feet take you where your heart wants to go!

(Resident Council) - July 13th

A resident council is an independent, organized group of persons living in a Assisted Living community who meet on a regular basis to discuss concerns, develop suggestions, and plan activities.
Why have a resident council?
The lives of Assisted Living community residents are heavily controlled by laws, rules, and policies set by the government and the Assisted Living community. Compromises in life-styles become necessary due to health problems and the close quarters within which residents live. These compromises and controls can make Assisted Living community residents feel like their opinions and preferences do not matter. Many Assisted Living community residents are not content to give up control over their lives. They want an active part in life and the chance to influence decisions which affect them. A resident council gives them that chance.

Support Group Meeting (July 9th)

“The Woodlands Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support Group has been a great source of comfort and sanity while we visited my mother, during her stay at the Woodlands of Hamilton. The group has provided guidance, support, advice, and normalcy in a difficult situation. The stories and experiences shared by Tim and the participants have really helped explain some of the nuances of senior living, especially from the residents’ perspective. Mainly, just listening to the shared experiences we have had and the acceptance that what we are seeing is “normal” has given us great comfort in knowing we are not alone, and there are others who sometimes have to shoulder the responsibility that comes with family caregiving. Sometimes all we need is a hug and a smile.”

Music by "David Proffitt"

On Thursday June 28th David Proffitt will be playing the piano for the Woodlands of Hamilton.
In the world of musical instruments, the piano is king. No instrument (with maybe the exception of the human voice) has had more impact on western music than the Piano of luxury piano. Invented early in the 18th century by Bartolomeo Christofori, the piano eventually worked its way into nearly every household by the late nineteenth to the early twentieth century. Before the advent of the radio, the piano was the central entertainment piece of nearly every house in the developed world.

MUSIC IS LIFE.
THAT'S WHY OUR
HEARTS HAVE BEATS.
