Caregiver Support Group

Caregiver Support groups help caregivers care for themselves and access valuable resource information. They provide caregivers with opportunities to express their feelings in a non-threatening and non-judgmental atmosphere. Caregivers learn that they are not alone and to share techniques for handling the “nitty-gritty” of daily care. You will connect with other caregivers who will listen, understand, and ease your burden.

The Woodlands of Middletown has a Caregiver Support Group every third Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the 2nd floor Activity room. This group is co-sponsored by The Woodlands of Middletown, Hospice Care of Middletown, and the Caregiver Assistance Network, a program of Catholic Charities, and funded in part by the Council on Aging. For more information, call the care-line at (513) 869-4483. All are welcome.

Flower Pot Painting

Spring is in the air and thoughts are of the color that visually explodes as plants are blooming everywhere one looks. Residents at the Woodlands will take part in adding to the beauty of spring by painting flower pots on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. They will use paints and markers and their creativity to personalize the pots. Then on June 21, residents will plant various flowers in the pots as their part in The Longest Day, an event sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association. Families and friends will be provided sponsorship opportunities so they may take home these treasured flower pots created by their loved ones. All proceeds will go to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Woodlands Sock Hop

The residents of Woodlands of Middletown took a trip down Memory Lane as they visited the 50s for a good old times Sock Hop on April 27, 2018. To get in the spirit, all ladies donned colorful scarves and staff dressed in poodle skirts and peddle pushers. They sang, clapped, tapped, and laughed as they ‘rocked around the clock’ to classic tunes of yesteryear. Their dining room was transformed into a diner from the 50s as they gobbled down hamburgers and hotdogs, food reminiscent of that era. Their dining pleasure was topped off with a resident favorite, an ice cream soda, which they devoured quickly. Johnny Cash made a guest appearance to the delight of everyone, and they were eager to take selfies with him. The evening continued as residents and staff sang popular tunes and hymns to the crows. A special thank you goes to Gem City for their support of this event.
