Escape from Nazis and Communism to Middletown

Octogenarians Peter and Gudrun Seifert have called Middletown, OH their home for 55 years, but as young people they lived under the Nazis. On Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at 6:30 pm, Peter and Gudrun will share their harrowing experiences and stories of their youth and how they escaped from communism. Peter, a retired engineer, and Gudrun, a retired teacher, authors of Hike for Your Life, have delighted the residents of The Woodlands of Middletown in the past with their travels, but this presentation promises to be an eye-opening first-hand account of a part of the history of Nazis and communism and how they were able to flee to freedom in the USA. Please join us in welcoming them!

The 20th Century You Never Knew

Rotary phones, drive-In movie theaters, and doctors who make house calls are only a few things people don’t see or hear about much at all anymore. On Monday, July 15, 2019 at 3:00 pm, Dr. Herman W. Reed will take us down Memory Lane talking about customs and common terms that are no longer part of our daily lives in the 21st century. Dr. Reed is a retired chiropractor who lives in Middletown and wrote the book The 20th Century You Never Knew: A Nostalgic Glimpse at Life in the 20th Century.

The Wild West

World travelers, hikers, and authors Peter and Gudrun Seifert will return to The Woodlands of Middletown to share about their "Wild West" travels and adventures to several western national parks on Monday, April 8, 2019 at 1:30 pm.
