Cathy Anthony is the Dietary Director at The Waterford at Deer Park and comes to us with a wealth of experience. Her love for cooking comes from a childhood of helping her grandparents at their family restaurant and working in the food service industry for over 30 years.
“It makes me feel good to show others how to have a passion for food service,” Cathy says, crediting her staff and their energetic work environment for their successes at The Waterford.
She graduated with an associate degree in Dietary Technology (Nutrition Care) and a certification in dietary management from San Jacinto College and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Conrad Hilton College of Hotel/Restaurant Management.
Cathy hosts monthly meetings to ensure all of her residents are satisfied with their dining options. At her very first gathering, she heard two complaints: “I’ve gained 10 pounds since I’ve been here” and “None of my clothes fit anymore.” That’s a testament to the meals she cooks – everything from comfort and gourmet foods to fine-dining items.
It’s her famous chicken piccata, though, that is Cathy’s favorite dish to make – and a favorite among her residents. “The food has gotten so much better now that Ms. Cathy is here,” a resident at The Waterford said.
The compliments from residents are endless. “Ms. Cathy is so sweet and she makes food that we can actually eat. She listens to what we want and even takes some of our recipes to incorporate them into her menu.”
With her “will do” - instead of a “can do” - spirit, Cathy makes it her mission to please every resident and staff member with the utmost care and compassion and a tasty menu. The Waterford at Deer Park is very blessed to have her as part of our team.
