Sedgwick Plaza Undergoes Renovation to Enhance Residents’ Experience in Common Areas

Capital Senior Living community in Wichita, KS, adds Wall of History with project and upgrades furniture, window treatments, paint and carpet in living, dining areas

Wichita, KS, Jan. 30, 2014 Sedgwick Plaza, an Independent Living and Assisted Living community in Wichita, KS, is proud to announce the completion of its renovation project.

The senior adult residence, operated by Capital Senior Living Corp., has been completely refreshed to provide residents with inviting places to relax, dine and converse in the style and sophistication they deserve.

In addition to all common areas receiving new paint and carpet in warm, neutral tones, special emphasis was placed on the remodel of the south corridor. A Wall of History was installed with numerous black-and-white pictures depicting Wichita from the early 1900s through 1989. Included in the series are photos of Wonderland Park and library storytelling time from 1906, a group of Wichita police from around 1900, Engine and Hose Company No. 2 from 1902, Wichita Library from 1915, Riverside Boat Company from 1928, Riverside Park Zoo in 1929, Municipal Beach in 1938, Wichita Art Association in 1948, Joyland in 1952, Wichita Library Book Brigade in 1967 and aerial views of downtown from 1989.

New bench-style seating and chairs have been added to the corridor for extra comfort when residents are entertaining guests. The theater room also received new seating as part of the project.

The plaza living room, library and Meadowlark room now boast new furniture and window treatments as well as new artwork and paintings to complement soft shades of blue and coral. The main dining room at the Wichita Independent Living and Assisted Living community features new chairs, sconce lighting, hardwood floors in the salad bar area and a refurbished beverage station.

Residents will appreciate the new chairs and flooring in the activity center when they are challenging their neighbors or loved ones to a friendly card or board game or while participating in one of our many community organized activities.

“Our residents are very excited about the changes at Sedgwick Plaza through the recent remodeling and refurbishing project. These updates provide a new warmth for their home,” said Valerie Martindale, regional operations manager.

The friendly and courteous staff members at Sedgwick Plaza hosted a successful open house in December to exhibit the renovations to the Wichita community.
