Tracey O’Dell - Whitcomb House

Chef Tracey O’Dell has spent nearly her entire life making countless seniors happy, healthy and well fed by cooking great food. Tracey started baking homemade apple pies at age 12 under the guidance of her mother who was a director of nursing at a health care facility. Her first job was working in a nursing home at age 15. She started as a dishwasher, advancing to become a prep-cook at 18, full supervisor cook at 22, and head chef at 25. She’s always worked in the senior housing and health care industry and has specific geriatric dietary and extensive nutritional training. Tracey has been nominated twice for the Mass ALFA leadership award; and her kitchen consistently receives perfect health inspection scores under her exceptional leadership. Whitcomb House residents have been very lucky to enjoy her cooking since 2001.

Tracey’s passion for cooking and love of people and specifically our Whitcomb House residents are obvious to anyone who meets her. "I love to cook healthy meals. Italian foods are my favorite to cook, Mexican foods too. I enjoy cooking for big crowds. I come from a large family who always appreciated great homemade food prepared from scratch. I’ve worked with a lot of great chefs and dieticians over the years who shared their recipes and fun ideas with me", says Tracey.  "I love making my residents happy in their retiring years. It warms my heart. I especially love when my residents stop by the kitchen and tell me about a fun activity which they just enjoyed or ask me to try a recipe they found."

For fourteen years Tracey has made a positive difference in the lives of Whitcomb House residents, their families and staff. We’re truly blessed to have, not only a wonderful chef, but such a tremendous human being as a member of our Whitcomb House family.
