Hurricane Florence Update

We have assessed current weather and area conditions and believe that there is no longer any considerable threat from Hurricane Florence, including any post-storm effects. In our last update, we were happy to report that the property and the residents weathered through the initial impact of the storm with no issues and all operations are back to normal for the community. Therefore, this will be the final update on Hurricane Florence for Chesapeake Place.

Hurricane Florence Update

As the storm continued inland, there were no injuries sustained or damage to our property and there was no disruption of service.  We are expecting the mandatory evacuations for areas close to us to be lifted soon.  At this time, our community will resume normal business operations, but we will still be closely monitoring the situation and remaining alert to possible changes in weather conditions.

For Residents and Family Members: We will keep our update channels open for the next week until we are clear from all storm activity. To subscribe to these updates, please send an email to updateschesapeake@capitalsenior.com.  You can also check back here for general updates.

Hurricane Florence Update

Currently, there is no mandatory evacuation ordered for our zone for Hurricane Florence.  Therefore, we have made the decision to weather in place throughout the storm. We are working with the Virginia Department of Emergency Management and are taking the necessary steps in preparation for the storm and its potential effects on our community.

For Residents and Family Members: As the storm progresses, we will be sending out email updates periodically that will include community progress updates.  To subscribe to these updates, please send an email to updateschesapeake@capitalsenior.com.  You can also check back here for general updates.

Bringing Generations Together Through Music

A new weekly music-making experience is now being offered at our community!  Capital Senior Living is bringing Music Together®, an international early childhood music organization, and one of its popular music classes for young children to Chesapeake Place. The Generations class is a 45-minute music experience where a teacher leads the group in song, musical games and activities.  Children, newborn to age 5, their caregivers and our residents come together for music-making experiences designed to build relationships across generations and bring joy to your soul.

Classes are every Monday at 4:00pm.  For more information on Music Together, visit the website below.

Alzheimer’s Association Fundraiser: The Longest Day

On June 21, 2018, the longest day of the year and summer solstice, dozens of people from our community will come together to show their love for those affected by Alzheimer's disease. You can be one of them. Join us Thursday, June 21 at 10am for a fun-fill day of Painting with a Twist to raise money and awareness to fight Alzheimer’s.

Throughout May and June, we’ll be accepting donations on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Association to support research, caregivers and those affected by Alzheimer’s. To join the fight, donate at the front desk, directly to the Activity Directors, or online at http://act.alz.org/site/TR/LongestDay/TheLongestDay?px=14527865&pg=perso... . We look forward to seeing you on June 21!
