Alzheimer’s Association Fundraiser: The Longest Day

On June 21, 2018, the longest day of the year and summer solstice, dozens of people from our community will come together to show their love for those affected by Alzheimer's disease. You can be one of them. Join us Thursday, June 21 for a fun-fill day to raise money and awareness to fight Alzheimer’s.

We will begin the morning with a balloon release and pictures at 9:45 am. Be sure to wear your purple! We will then have a lunch outing to Dairy Chef at 11:45 am. Residents will need to sign up in the front lobby for the outing. Dairy Chef is partnering with Marquis Place and a portion of all profits from 11:00 am to 8:30 pm on this day will be donated to the Alzheimer's Association. Be sure to stop by for a burger and and ice cream cone!

After lunch residents will complete a special craft to be displayed in our courtyard to show that even in the darkness we can all be a light for each other. At 3:00 pm we will be having a Lady Lavender Lemonade Mixer and Memories social hour. This will be a chance for residents and staff to visit and share some of their favorite and most meaningful memories.

The evening will conclude with our Paint and Sip event. Family and friends from the community are invited to participate in a guided painting honoring those fighting Alzheimer's Disease while enjoying some wine and appetizers. The cost is $30 per person or you may reserve a table of four for $100. Please contact Brittani or Sylvia to register.

All week long leading up to Thursday we will also be holding a raffle with all donations benefiting the Alzheimer's Association fundraising efforts.

American Legion Thank A Veteran Poker Run

The American Legion Thank A Veteran Poker Run was once again a fantastic event that we were honored to take part in. The nicer weather had even more riders and families making their was to Marquis Place than last year. Our resident veterans met with the riders and visited about their service as well as their bikes. Our raffle and bake sale fundraiser for the American Legion was also a great success. Thank you to everybody who helped make this wonderful morning possible.

Bake Sale

Our bake sale was a huge hit! All money raised benefited the American Legion in honor of their Thank A Veteran Poker Run. The residents had a great time shaking up some puppy chow and decorating cupcakes for the sale. We had an even better time sampling the treats, for quality control of course!

Marquis to the Rescue!

Residents celebrated the anniversary of the classic Batman TV show by donning their own superhero personas. After reminiscing about our favorite heroes and debating over what would be the best superpower to have (teleportation was the clear winner) it was time to discover our own secret identities. With the help of an online generator we learned our superhero backstory and the powers we each held. Fear not! The next time you are at Marquis, you are in good hands.
