Waterford Tree Light Ceremony

'Tis the season to start decking the halls with lights and glamour. Please join us on Thursday, November 29th at 4:30 PM to watch the decorations light up The Waterford. Even the courtyard trees will show the power of the season as we get ready for the season of giving. With the days getting darker each day, this will be a special treat to see the snow sparkle through the lights.

Family & Friends Holiday Dinner

The time for being thankful and getting together with friend and family. On December 9th at 11:30 AM, The Waterford at Ames will be holding its annual "Family & Friends Holiday Dinner". Veterans Day Ceremony

On November 12th, Waterford will be holding a special event for residents of our community who are Veterans as well as their spouses. St Croix Hospice will be joining us for a pinning and certificate ceremony where refreshments and cookies will be available. It is important to us to show how much we appreciate the sacrifices our veterans, and their spouses have made. Join us November 12th 2018 at 2:00 PM to show appreciation to our residents who are Veterans as well as their spouses.

"ROCK ON" in Retirement

The ISU Retirees Association & The Waterford at Ames Assisted Living is proud to announce the 6th Annual "Rock On" in Retirement Symposium. The theme this year is "BIG DATA/BIG TECH: Friends and Foes." This free event is open to all, but registration is required. The first 200 people to register receive a complimentary tote bag and box lunch. The event will be on November 7th from 8 AM - 1:30 PM at the Reiman Ballroom in the ISU Alumni Center at 429 Alumni Lane Ames, Iowa 50011. Big Band Galore

Big Band Galore will be stopping in on the 6th. They will bring the Las Vegas favorites of Andy Williams, Wayne Newton, and Tennessee Ernie Ford. Classics from the '50s and '60s that will bring back fond memories for everyone. With some of the best music ever written, Big Band Galore will take residents on an auditory adventure. Big Band Galore will ask for audience participation creating more fun for everyone involved. Stop in to The Waterford at Ames dinning room at 3:00 PM November 6th 2018!

Halloween Costumes Day!

This year Waterford is celebrating the spirit of Halloween in style with fun dress up days! Every Friday and the last three days of October the Fun Committee will be encouraging staff and residents to dress up. October 31st, it’s time for the dress up finale! Celebrate Halloween your way and join in on these crazy dress up days!

The Longest Day Painting Event

On June 21st The Waterford at Ames staff and Resident's participated in a painting with a twist class to raise awareness and funds in the fight against Alzheimer's! We painted many different pictures including watermelon, sunflowers and 4th of July flags! The Waterford was able to raise just over $1000 towards our goal! We would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to all of those who participated and helped us raise these funds!

Alzheimer’s Association Fundraiser: The Longest Day

On June 21, 2018, the longest day of the year and summer solstice, dozens of people from our community will come together to show their love for those affected by Alzheimer's disease. You can be one of them. Join us Thursday, June 21 at 6:30pm for a fun-filled evening of painting with a twist to raise money and awareness to fight Alzheimer’s.

Throughout May and June, we’ll be accepting donations on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Association to support research, caregivers and those affected by Alzheimer’s. To join the fight, donate online at the link below. We look forward to seeing you on June 21!

New Director of Sales & Marketing!

Welcome, Logan Harrington Director of Sales & Marketing!

On April 12th, Logan Harrington started as our new Director of Sales & Marketing. Logan brings a vast variety of healthcare knowledge & leadership to our community. While specializing in Alzheimer’s & dementia care, hospice & palliative care, home care, long-term care, management, environmental services, customer service, and sales & marketing.

Logan grew up in Boone, Iowa where he still lives. Logan has a teacup morkie Oakley, cats Cassie & Mia, horses Lacie & Dixie. He also has a 22-month-old niece Adaline, and 4-month-old nephew Hudson. Logan enjoys spending time with family & friends, camping, riding horses, DIY projects, and shopping.

When you see Logan around the community, please don’t hesitate to say hi and introduce yourself! Welcome to the community Logan!

The Safety Committee is comprised of a group of employees who value the safety and well-being of their peers/residents and the continuous success of the organization. It's an effective way to improve safety behavior and performance in the workplace and to encourage workers to support the organization's safety program. Participation in the Safety Committee represents a commitment on your part in time and effort to:
• Be your organization’s eyes and ears
• Raise safety awareness
• Gain respect of co-workers and peers
• Analyze and/or solve problems
• Follow-up and follow-through consistently

Iowa State University visited a Resident!

On Valentines Day Resident Betty had a special visitor! Betty has been a life long Iowa State University fan and was excited to see Cy the Cardinal stop in!
