Show and Share

Approximately twenty residents and staff displayed meaningful treasures and collections in the Activity Room for "Show and Share". The residents sat behind their displays to explain their significance. It was an enjoyable history lesson, as well as a stroll down "Memory Lane." Many impressive hand-made items, paintings, and poetry, as well as some very unique collections were on display. Also, some of our veterans brought in medals, certificates and other memorabilia. Resident, Renee Mc., brought in a very unusual and unique item; a bathing suit she wore in a pageant fifty years ago that still looked like new.

Bringing Generations Together Through Music

A new weekly music-making experience is now being offered at our community! Capital Senior Living is bringing Music Together®, an international early childhood music organization, and one of its popular music classes for young children to The Waterford at Columbia. The Generations class is a 45-minute music experience where a teacher leads the group in song, musical games and activities. Children, newborn to age 5, their caregivers and our residents come together for music-making experiences designed to build relationships across generations and bring joy to your soul.

"Music Together Generations" is a fabulous program for the young and the "young at heart". Our residents were so excited for the young children (ages 0 to 5) to come in for music sessions every week. The children loved having "grandfriends" to be in their music class. It was a wonderful learning experience for all. We are looking forward to our next session in the fall.

You can be one of them. Join us Thursday, June 21 at 9:30am, for a fun-fill day of games to raise money and awareness to fight Alzheimer’s.

Casino Night at the Waterford

Casino Night was a special event that we had this week. The residents and staff had a fabulous time. "Ragtime" band music playing in the background, A Roulette Wheel, Blackjack, Texas Hold "Em Stations, and real chips gave the feeling that we had been transported to Las Vegas. Drawings were held throughout the night, and there were many winners! One resident commented. "If this were "real money" I would have won a lot of dough"! We plan to have another Casino Night in the future, because we had so much fun.
