Crafting Creates Brain Benefits.

Whether you’re stitching, purling, painting, gluing or carving, crafting not only keeps your hands busy, but science shows it can keep your brain nimble, too. Researchers say activities such as sewing, knitting, scrapbooking and woodworking can protect the brain from age-related damage and decrease the risk of mild cognitive impairment. While crafts may appear to simply provide hobbyists with a creative outlet and enjoyment, scientists assert that crafting is unique in that it can exercise many areas of the brain, including memory, attention span, visual-spatial processing, and problem-solving.
Our residents continue to enjoy crafting items together. Whether is it sewing groups, paint nights or bead making we stay very active in our community. Check out or activity calendars for upcoming events.

Our first donation will be shipped at the end of the month

The Waterford as teamed up with Adopt a Platoon. We accepted donations for Operation Foot Care for our military members that are deployed in Afghanistan. Deployed Service members know that taking care of their feet is just as important as taking care of their weapon. During the month of October we collected the following much needed items: Men/Women's socks, foot powder, anti-fungal cream, cooling cream, nail clippers, athlete's cream or lotion. Sending these items will go a long way to helping our troops that serve our Nation know that we are helping them in their mission as they serve far from home on our behalf. This mission supports our goal to not just be in the Oshkosh community but part of it!

Pancake Breakfast with our local Firefighters

One our goals is to not just be in the Oshkosh community; but rather be an active part of it. We were super blessed to have our local firefighters join us for breakfast. We were excited to donate to them several teddy bears that we handmade over the past several weeks to use as gifts to children that they may come into contact with during an emergency situation. We are looking forward to their next visit.
