Community Life

The Waterford at Plano celebrates its residents with special activities, seminars and more throughout the year that bring our community together. Our residents stay quite active with garden club, movies, weekly social hours, musical entertainment, monthly breakfast and lunch outings, arts and crafts and sing-alongs. Lunch Bunch Heads to First Watch

Here at First Watch, we begin each morning at the crack of dawn, slicing fresh fruits and vegetables, baking muffins and whipping up our French toast batter from scratch. Everything is made to order and freshness is never compromised. We don’t use heat lamps or deep fryers — we use only the finest ingredients possible for the freshest taste around. When you arrive, we welcome you with a pot — not just a cup — of our Project Sunrise coffee, along with complimentary newspapers and WiFi Internet access.

Local Author Monica Shaw to Discuss Novel

The Waterford at Plano is thrilled to have Texas native and author Monica Shaw join us to discuss her new novel, The Rainwater Secret.

Shaw will talk about the novel came about, through her search for information about her aunt. It follows Anna as she leaves her life in England and embarks on a journey to Africa with the Medical Missionaries of Mary to teach the leper children in Nigeria.

Alzheimer’s Association Fundraiser: The Longest Day

On June 21, 2018, the longest day of the year and summer solstice, dozens of people from our community will come together to show their love for those affected by Alzheimer's disease. You can be one of them. Join us Thursday, June 21 at 5pm for a fun-filled Casino Night to raise money and awareness to fight Alzheimer’s.

Throughout May and June, we’ll be accepting donations on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Association to support research, caregivers and those affected by Alzheimer’s. We look forward to seeing you on June 21!

Bringing Generations Together Through Music

A new weekly music-making experience is now being offered at our community!  Capital Senior Living is bringing Music Together®, an international early childhood music organization, and one of its popular music classes for young children to Charlotte Square. The Generations class is a 45-minute music experience where a teacher leads the group in song, musical games and activities.  Children, newborn to age 5, their caregivers and our residents come together for music-making experiences designed to build relationships across generations and bring joy to your soul.

Bloom Where You are Planted Spring Fling

The Waterford at Plano was transformed into a beautiful garden Friday for our 2018 Spring Fling family night. Our theme was Bloom Where You are Planted and there were blooms everywhere! Two buffets were set up and our families enjoyed stuffed baked potatoes, pasta salad, green pea salad, and Fancy Sprites for desert. Our musical entertainment was an amazing saxophone player and the sounds of jazz could be heard throughout the community. It was wonderful to see many family members of our residents!

Plano Lions Club Donates Books to Library

The Plano Early Lions Club recently adopted The Waterford at Plano Assisted Living library, agreeing to donate new books to keep our residents engaged and content. What a wonderful surprise when the Lions Club arrived with over 500 new books to donate to our residents! We feel blessed to have the Plano Early Lions Club as a supporter for our residents and our library.

Dorris Lews, Director of the Plano Early Lions Club and Dora Harrington, 3rd Vice President, joined us for a ribbon cutting and resident greeting. Many of the residents were seeing the revamped library for the first time and could not contain their excitement. This will be a treasure for many years to come. The smiles on the faces of our residents is priceless and would not have happened without the Plano Lions Club!

Thank you, Wyatt Elementary!

We are so grateful for the 100 students from Wyatt Elementary that sang a few holiday songs for us! The children even interacted with our residents by passing out cards and candy after the performance. Wyatt Elementary is one of our favorite regular visitors and we appreciate the holiday spirit they bring with them!
