Veterans Day

Facts regarding Veterans Day: It is an official United States public holiday, observed annually on November 11, that honors military veterans; that is, persons who served in the United States Armed Forces. It coincides with other holidays, including Armistice Day and Remembrance Day, celebrated in other countries that mark the anniversary of the end of World War I; major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, when the Armistice with Germany went into effect. The United States previously observed Armistice Day. The U.S. holiday was renamed Veterans Day in 1954.

We will be having a Veterans Day social. You can also view our Veterans Wall located near the beauty shop. Refreshments provided.

National Waffle Week

We will be acknowledging "the waffle" during the week of September 2nd. Fun facts: Cornelius Swartwout was granted the first U.S. patent for a waffle iron. This heavy cast-iron contraption looked like a pan with a handle. It fit directly into an old-fashioned coal or gas stovetop in place of one of the existing stove lids. You can celebrate Waffle Day the modern way with an electric waffle iron. Or, head to a local diner to get a piping hot, corrugated breakfast food topped with whipped cream, syrup, or powdered sugar.
