Coffee and Conversation ~ Exploring Healing and Loss

The public is welcome to join us the 2nd Thursday of every month at 2 pm in second floor activity room for our "Coffee and Conversation" support group to help with healing and loss. The event is chaired by Pastor Tim from Hospice of the Miami Valley. Grief is a powerful emotion that affects each of us as some point in our life. As social interaction is a critical part of our healing process, grief support groups help promote a sense of understanding and connection with others who are also experiencing loss. This group is a warm and informal place to share and support each other during the healing process. No reservations are needed and we encourage everyone who is dealing with loss in their life to participate and to learn helpful tips as you shape a new normal for your life.

Welcome back for scheduled outdoor visitation!

Welcome back for scheduled outdoor visitation!
We are happy to announce that we will begin offering in-person outdoor visitation appointments every day from 10:00a.m. And 4:00p.m. Monday through Friday Beginning on June 8, 2020. If you are unable to make it during these hours due to working schedules, etc. Please let us know so that we may be able to accommodate for a weekend visit if needed.
The health and well being of our residents is always our priority, so our team has been working hard to set this up in the safest way possible for both residents and guests. We are all eager to be together again on a more permanent basis. That’s the reason for all the precautions—to help ensure everyone stays healthy, so we can continue easing restrictions and opening up our community.
Things may look and feel a little different to you, and it will probably take a little longer than usual for you to get in to see your loved one. We appreciate your patience as our team gets used to this new process.
Scheduling your visit
• For now, visits are by appointment only. Just call our front desk, at 513-423-2322 and we will do the rest!

• Visiting hours are 10:00 a.m. To 4:00 p.m. There will be time slots available every 45 minutes. However, we ask that you keep your visit to 30 minutes, so we have time to properly sanitize between guests.
• Each resident may have two guests at a time to allow for adequate social distancing.

The day of your visit
• Please bring a mask that you will wear throughout your visit. Residents will be wearing masks, too.

• If you arrive early, please wait until your appointment time to come to our designated meeting spot. Feel free to give us a call to see if we are ready for you.

• All visitors will be screened prior to the visit. That just means we will ask you some questions to assess your risk of exposure and check your temperature to make sure it’s below 99.4. If you answer yes to any questions or have an elevated temperature, you will need to reschedule.

• If you have a fever or cold/flu symptoms please reschedule your visit ahead of time to ensure the safety of all staff and residents

• We will ask you to sanitize your hands before we bring your loved one outside in our designated outdoor visitation area.

• We are willing to assist with the arrangement for assistive technology, like a hearing device or cell phone, to help you communicate with your loved one during the visit. Let us know what you need when you schedule your appointment, and we will do our best to try to accommodate you. Please remember to disinfect the device after you use it.

• WEATHER CONSIDERATIONS: If the weather is expected to include heavy rain or extreme heat, we may need to reschedule visits for the safety of both you and your loved one. We will call ahead if plans change

New safety measures
• Both you and your loved one will be asked to wear masks throughout the visit.

• The furniture in our visitation area will be set up to accommodate social distancing. It is for your safety, so please do not move it.

• We require that you refrain from hugging and/or kissing. We understand this is a very challenging requirement, however, the safety of not just your loved one, but the entire community is at stake as we increase visitor interaction. PLEASE help us continue to provide access to our residents by understanding this requirement. We look forward to lifting this requirement in the future but must keep this in place in the current environment

• Please do not exchange any items with your loved one. If you have something you’d like to give to them, leave it in the vestibule so we can properly sanitize it first.

• Per our normal protocol we will continue to monitor residents for symptoms such as shortness of breath and fever.
In order to keep the visits running smoothly, it is essential to have a scheduled visit. Please DO NOT arrive without a scheduled visit.

Valentine's King and Queen Crowned!

Valentine's Day is a day to "share the love" and Friday, February 14th was a day that our residents will love forever. Along with a Happy Hour featuring hors d'ouveres and heart shaped pizza, the residents decorated heart sugar cookies as well. The highlight of the day was the crowning of the "King" and "Queen"of Love, in Assisted Living, which went to Eleanor P. and Garwood L. and Marie W. and Byrt W. in our Memory Care Neighborhood. They couldn't have been happier! We LOVE to spoil our residents here at The Woodlands of Middletown!
