Pampering by Mary Kay

Everyone loves to be pampered every now and then. Residents at The Woodlands of Middletown are pampered every month by Mary Kay representative Bernice Herb. She volunteers her time and supplies for our residents to sample some hand and face products. She spends time making the ladies look and feel young again. This is always a day they look forward to. Bernice will be here next on Thursday, November 15 at 1:00 pm.

Green Beans and Potatoes - Yum!

As residents shopped at a local produce market earlier in the month, one resident commented that she missed eating fresh green beans and potatoes, a favorite southern dish. Since the market had both fresh green beans and potatoes, a bag of each was selected to take back to The Woodlands of Middletown. A few days later, a number of ladies joined in the 2nd floor turret to break beans and instruct the Activity Director in the fine art of making green beans and potatoes. The ladies shared stories of how each had prepared the beans, marveling at the many ways the seemingly basic recipe was modified. This special dish cooked over the stove for a number of hours as the enticing aroma wafted throughout the building. The verdict was a "Thumbs up!" for almost all who who sampled this dish, bringing back fond memories for all.
